Library Technician – Cataloguing

United Library Services has an exciting opportunity on our Cataloguing Team for a self-directed, enthusiastic person looking for a challenging cataloguing position in a fast-paced environment.

United Library Services is a provider of books and services to public and school libraries across Canada.  We are marking our 84th year in business and the future is bright.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality cataloguing for public and school library customers as per client specifications. 
  • Create original bibliographic records, and add original records to existing databases as well as other duties.
  • Coordinate with other teams required service delivery

Essential Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Library Technician certificate from a recognized post-secondary institute  
  • Experienced applied knowledge of MARC, Dewey Decimal System, Library of Congress, AACR2R, RDA  and metadata manipulation
  • Experience with library automation systems preferred
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Excellent Windows knowledge and keyboard skills
  • Excellent data management skills
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills

 

Term:

  • Full-time (40 hours per week) position.

 

Hours:

  • 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday
