Position Details
Do you love working with young children and helping them discover the joy of stories, music, and play? The Okotoks Public Library is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Preschool Program Coordinator to plan and deliver engaging early literacy programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers (ages 0–5) and their caregivers.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Inspire Early Learners: Design, deliver, and evaluate engaging early literacy programs and activities for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers; both in the library and out in the community.
- Bring Storytime to Life: Lead interactive storytimes filled with stories, songs, music, movement, and crafts that build language, creativity, and social skills.
- Connect Families to the Library: Create eye-catching promotional materials that highlight programs and introduce families to valuable library resources.
- Manage the Details Behind the Scenes: Update program information on the library website and manage registrations to ensure families have the information they need.
- Measure Our Impact: Compile monthly statistics for preschool programming to help evaluate success and guide future planning.
- Stay Curious and Current: Keep up with trends and best practices in early literacy and children’s programming to ensure high-quality, meaningful experiences.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Post-secondary diploma in related field including Early Childhood Education or Library and Information Technology.
- Related experience working with young children (ages 0–5) such as teaching, early childhood programming, or community-based activities is required.
- Experience working in a public library is an asset. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of children’s literature, early literacy principles, and child development is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; occasional evening or weekend programs may be required.
- Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Skilled with technology and an aptitude for learning new tools and systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of emergency first aid training (or willingness to obtain)
- Fluency in both verbal and written English communication.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check from the Police Service (or willingness to obtain)

The Okotoks Public Library has been at the heart of the community and a valued public service promoting inclusion, intellectual freedom, and lifelong learning since 1977. We provide services and programs to
community members of all ages to encourage literacy, learning, and creativity. We aim to provide a diverse range of services and programs to meet the recreational, educational, and professional needs of all members of our community. OPL is one of the busiest public libraries in the Marigold Library System and serves the
vibrant Town of Okotoks and surrounding Foothills County. Okotoks is situated just south of Calgary and is a fast-growing community of just over 33,000 people with an excellent commercial hub, wonderful green spaces, recreation and culture amenities, and walking/biking trails.
