President — Annie Kavanagh

Annie is a Collections Librarian at the University of Calgary. Her work focuses on building and managing collections that support research and learning, with experience in collection development, resource evaluation, and licensing. She brings a student-centred perspective to her work, with a particular interest in how collections can better reflect and respond to student needs. She previously worked at the University of Windsor’s Leddy Library, after completing her MLIS at Western University, and holds an MA in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management from Toronto Metropolitan University, and an Honours BA in Art History from York University. 

She’s especially interested in visual storytelling, supporting students, and exploring how libraries can make space for different kinds of knowledge. New to Calgary, Annie is enjoying getting to know her new city by visiting art galleries and public gardens, trying out local craft breweries, and exploring dog parks with her miniature dachshund, Olive.

Past-President — Brianna Calomino

Brianna is a Digital Projects Librarian – Digital Scholarship at the University of Calgary, where she also occasionally liaisons for Classics and covers the Makerspace, learning new technologies. Prior to this position, she worked as an Open Services Library Staff member at Mount Royal University. She holds a BA in English from Queens University, and an MLIS from Western University. Brianna has a passion for open access, and outside of work she is a feral reader for fantasy/romance novels, a dubious yogi, and a mediocre hiker. She is new to Calgary and resides with her two special-care cats, Mr. Bingley and Heathcliff.

Jobline Coordinator — Laura Reid

Laura Reid received her Master of Information degree at University of Toronto’s iSchool in 2023 and has worked in libraries and archives at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Reference Library, University of Calgary, and Calgary Board of Education. Scholarly work has included extensive research for COPPUL’s dataset on Indigenous Historical Periodicals, and articles on music archives, UCalgary’s archival residency project, and non-traditional thesis work. In addition to serving on FLA’s executive she also serves as Communications Officer for CAML (Canadian Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres). She balances creative practice and information work, having expanded her professional life to include library and archival work as well as an extensive career as a violinist, curator, and music educator.

Director of Membership — Marianna Kalaczynski

Marianna Kalaczynski is an information professional, librarian, and archivist dedicated to community building, historical preservation, and equitable access to knowledge. Marianna currently serves as the Archivist for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary, and has held information management roles across academic, non-profit, and government sectors. A double alumna of the University of Toronto (MI 2021, HBA 2019), Marianna brings a passion for advocacy, education, and institutional memory. Marianna’s work emphasizes open access, digital literacy, and supporting underserved communities.

Secretary — Alicia Adlington

Alicia (she/her) is the Legal Research Content Lead at the University of Calgary. She is a lawyer and member of the Law Society of Alberta, and is currently completing her MLIS with San José State University. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Alicia worked with the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary as a program coordinator for several years. She is interested in access to information, access to justice, intellectual freedom, and public interest initiatives. Outside of work, Alicia is heavily involved in her local dance studio and pours countless hours into her video game collection.

Treasurer — Liam Baker

Liam is a Digital Strategies, Learning and Engagement Librarian at the University of Calgary. He liaises for the Department of Geography, the Department of History, and the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscaping (SAPL). He graduated from the University of Toronto’s iSchool with a MILS. His background is in history. He works with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Literacy, Ethics, and Integrity (CAILEI). His work with CAILEI involves the critical examination of Generative AI tools advertised for academic work.

Webmaster — Callen Law

Callen is a Library Technician with experience in academic and public library settings, currently working at SAIT’s Reg Erhardt Library. Xe is passionate about inclusion and accessibility in library spaces, collections, and displays, and believes that libraries should be a welcoming space for diverse communities. Outside of work, xe is an artist and small business owner, creating and selling original queer art, and is actively involved in professional and volunteer leadership within both the library sector and local 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
